Industrial Visit – Heavy Industries Taxila

The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged an industrial visit of BS(ME)-3rd semester students to the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) on December 22, 2022 under the supervision of faculty members.

The students were formally welcomed by the Protocol Officer of HIT at the entrance and given the brief introduction by the Technical Directorate regarding history, phases of HIT, different types of products along production units, their production capacity, research/development, support facilities, and the aspect of commercialization along with some of the future endeavors.

Then students visited the showcase area of Advanced Research, Development & Information Center (ARDIC). In that area students were briefed about products along with their specifications. These products included different Bullet Proof Vehicles, Al-Khalid 1, Al-Khalid, Al-Zarrar, Armor Personnel Carrier (APC) Talha, Command Vehicle (SAKB), Armored Recovery Vehicle (ARV) Al-Hadeed, Aahan Post Guard (APG), Different types of Bullet proof Vest and 125mm Smooth Bore Tank Gun.

Then students were guided about the Al-Khalid tank assembly line unit at which students had the opportunity to sight real time part assembly and quality control checking of Al-Khalid Tanks parts. Students were also taken to space where running and different parameters of newly assembled Al-Khalid tanks were quality checked and verified.

During the visit students had a very fruitful interactive question answer session with experts of Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) in which they discussed multiple potential Final Year Projects. Students acknowledged the emergence of multidisciplinary streams and the importance of Automation and Electromechanical systems in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering thanked the Management of Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) for their kind cooperation during the visit.
