Message from the HoD

Welcome to the Department of Environmental Sciences at COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus. The 21st century presents urgent environmental and agricultural challenges from climate change and pollution to food insecurity and resource depletion. At our department, we are deeply committed to addressing these issues through education, research and community engagement. Our goal is to develop future scientists, researchers and policymakers who are prepared to lead the way in sustainability and ecological stewardship.

We offer a broad academic portfolio, including BS, MS, and PhD programs in Environmental Sciences and a BS program in Agriculture. These programs emphasize interdisciplinary learning, combining environmental science, agriculture, and chemistry which plays a critical role in understanding pollution, soil and water chemistry, agrochemicals, and environmental toxicology.

From analyzing water and soil quality to monitoring air pollutants and understanding chemical pathways in ecosystems, students are trained in modern laboratory techniques and instrumentation. Our labs are equipped for advanced environmental analysis, enabling hands-on learning and research aligned with national and global environmental priorities.

The BS Agriculture program focuses on sustainable farming practices, soil health, crop production, plant protection, and agri-entrepreneurship. Being located in the agricultural heartland of Punjab, our students have the unique advantage of field exposure and industry interaction, enhancing their practical learning and employability.

Through rigorous academics, fieldwork, and applied research, we aim to equip our graduates with critical thinking, technical expertise, and ethical values. Our faculty is actively involved in collaborative research on environmental conservation, climate resilience, green chemistry, and sustainable agriculture, making meaningful contributions at both national and international levels.
