The DESY Summer Student Program 2025 offers an 7-week research opportunity in Germany, welcoming bachelor's and master's students worldwide. DESY summer student program is fully covered program, inviting participants to explore diverse research fields, selected candidates will engage in research at DESY's Hamburg or Zeuthen (Berlin) facilities. Each summer DESY offers undergraduate & Graduate students in physics or related disciplines (such as scientific computing and engineering) the opportunity to obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory.

Eligibility criteria:
Applicants should have completed at least three years of full-time studies at university level in physics, related natural science disciplines or computing and engineering by the summer of 2025. Please be aware that most of the projects we offer are for physics students!
· The main target audiences are students who are at the following two stages by summer 2025:
· They are about to obtain their Bachelor's degree.
· They hold a Bachelor's degree and are enrolled in a Master's programme.
· Applicants who already obtained a Master's degree or will have obtained it by summer 2025 cannot be accepted.
· Applicants should not have previously been at DESY as a summer student.
Application requirement: Before applying, please read the conditions carefully and make sure that you meet the qualifications. Please proceed to the application only, if you accept the conditions. This includes that you will participate in the programme for the full period. · Please look through the activities and identify your preferred areas. You can choose three areas in order of priority later in your application form.
· Documents to be uploaded: In the course of this application you will have to upload a single document (only PDF format is accepted), containing: - a CV (curriculum vitae), the CV should be in tabular form only and contain personal data, educational history / relevant work experience, computing and other relevant work skills (usually 1-2 pages are sufficient for the complete CV). - University grade certificates (e.g. bachelor certificate, credit points, etc.).
· A copy of passport.
· A certificate of enrollment provided by your university. It has to cover the whole period of the programme, i.e. 22 July to 11 September 2025.
· Two reference letters: Please note that you need to ask your two referees for their permission before giving their names and email addresses in this online form. The referees will get an automatic email notification with instructions on where to upload their reference letters.
· At the end of the online application procedure, you will be asked to confirm the correctness of the data you entered. Your data will be electronically saved for six months and processed for the purposes of this summer student’s application procedure only.
· The selection process will take place after the end of the online application phase and all applicants will be notified by the end of March on the outcome. We or our project supervisors might contact you during February or March via email in case there are further questions regarding your interest and suitability for specific projects.
