Turkmenistan to Expand Science and Education Cooperation with COMSATS University Islamabad

Islamabad: April 23, 2024 – His Excellency Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps to Pakistan, accompanied by the Third Secretary, Mr. Eldar Permanov paid a visit to the office of Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on Tuesday.

Prof. Qamar warmly received the envoy, with the formal meeting attended by CUI’s Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Saqib Gulzar along with Head of the International Office, Dr. Hammad Omer.

In a diplomatic push for making efforts for enhanced bilateral ties with CUI, Ambassador Movlamov expressed Turkmenistan's enthusiastic interest for collaboration with COMSATS University, particularly in the realms of science and education. The Ambassador emphasized the necessity of facilitating exchange visits, virtual conferences, and meetings between the two entities. He disclosed that the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management invites CUI students to participate in the Open International Internet Olympiad on World Economy, slated for May 16, 2024. This Olympiad stands to fortify amicable relations among students and educators from higher educational institutions while fostering the exchange of invaluable scholarly insights and experiences.

Additionally, Ambassador Movlamov desired for soliciting fresh proposals from CUI for scientific and technological cooperation with Turkmenistan, noting the historical MoU between CUI and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, urging its revitalization.

Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Rector CUI presented homage to the efforts led by the Ambassador. The Rector affirmed COMSATS students’ participation in the Olympiad, provision of proposals for scientific and technological collaboration, dissemination of scholarship information, and the re-establishment of ties with the Turkmen State Institute.
