A seminar on the “International English Language Testing System” (IELTS) was held at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus, on September 24, 2024. This event is part of the “Information Seminars for Higher Studies Abroad” program, aimed at guiding prospective CUI candidates on selecting, preparing for, and financing their international educational pursuits. IELTS is a mandatory requirement for admission to numerous international universities, making the seminar a vital resource for students aspiring to pursue higher education abroad.

The purpose of the seminar was to provide the participants with an overview of the essential knowledge on the different sections of the IELTS, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Ms. Saba Bahareen Mansur from the English Language Center, Department of Humanities, Islamabad Campus, conducted this seminar.

The seminar began with the recitation of the Glorious Quran, followed by an introduction to the IELTS exam. Participants were then engaged in brief exercises covering each section of the test, offering insight into the types of questions they would face in each part of the examination. All sections of the workshop were interactive, drawing a substantial number of participants. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the valuable knowledge shared by the experienced trainers.

An introductory seminar on “International English Language Testing System” (IELTS) was held at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus on May 24, 2024. The workshop is part of activities, organized under the program “Information Seminars for Higher Studies Abroad” with the objective to educate and orient CUI prospective candidates with respect to selecting, preparing, financing and applying for higher studies abroad.
The purpose of the workshop was to provide young faculty, staff members, and students with an overview of the essential knowledge on the different sections of the IELTS, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Ms. Saba Bahareen Mansur from the English Language Center, Department of Humanities, Islamabad Campus, conducted this workshop.
The seminar commenced with the recitation of the Glorious Quran, followed by an introduction to IELTS. Subsequently, brief exercises covering the various sections of the IELTS were conducted, providing participants with an understanding of the types of questions they would encounter in each section of the examination. All sections were interactive, and a significant number of faculty, staff members, and students attended the workshop. The participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable information imparted by the experienced trainers.

A seminar on “Climate Change” took place on April 30, 2024, from 11:00 am to 01:00 pm, for faculty, staff, and students of COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad Campus. The seminar was held at the BIC Building, SSBC Seminar Hall, Islamabad Campus.

The seminar's objective was to raise awareness among the wider audience through an interactive seminar featuring a Climate Change Game, providing the participants with a deeper understanding of the implications of climate change within Pakistan.

The event was conducted by Mr. Umar Sheraz, a Senior Research Officer at COMSATS University Islamabad, renowned for pioneering climate change insights through gaming. The workshop began with the recitation of the Glorious Quran. After a brief introduction to the issue, the participants were asked to play the game, which allowed them to develop an understanding of the relationship between various parts of the global ecosystem.

A good number of students from different departments of Islamabad Campus participated in the seminar. The participants conveyed their appreciation for the invaluable information and skills gained during the workshop.

A seminar on "Strategic Planning and Foresight" was held on February 29, 2024, at Junaid Zaidi Library, Video Conference Room, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad Campus. The seminar aimed to elucidate the critical role of strategic planning and foresight in organizational success, with a particular focus on the faculty, staff, and students of COMSATS University Islamabad. Esteemed figures in the field, Dr. Aamir Murad, CEO of Management Excellence, and Mr. Umar Sheraz, Senior Research Officer at COMSATS University Islamabad, led the discussion.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Glorious Quran. Subsequently, Dr. Aamir Murad talked about the pivotal role of strategic planning in guiding organizations towards their objectives, while also enabling them to navigate the dynamic and uncertain landscape of today's world. By tailoring their insights to the specific context of COMSATS University Islamabad, attendees gained a nuanced understanding of how strategic foresight can surpass the institution's unique needs and aspirations.

Mr. Umar Sheraz further delved into the significance of foresight within organizational contexts. He articulated the process as a systematic exploration and anticipation of future trends, opportunities, and challenges that could impact an organization's objectives and operations. Through foresight, organizations can proactively identify emerging opportunities, anticipate risks, and adapt their strategies accordingly. This discussion provided attendees with valuable insights into how integrating foresight into organizational planning processes can enhance resilience, agility, and long-term competitiveness.
