Macquarie University Professor Explores Collaboration with COMSATS University

On September 19, 2024, Prof. Dr. Rahat Munir, Head of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University Sydney, Australia, visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI). He was warmly welcomed by the Head of the International Office, Dr. Hammad Omer (T.I.) and his team. Following his arrival, Dr. Munir met with Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Incharge CUI Islamabad Campus and Professor Dr. Saqib Gulzar, Dean Faculty of Business Administration.

The discussions in the meeting centred around possibilities of potential collaborations, including student exchange programs and semester exchange opportunities. Both sides explored ways to maximize the benefits for students participating in these initiatives.  The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both institutions expressing keen interest in further looking into avenues for cooperation in the near future.

Afterwards, Professor Rahat Munir delivered an insightful lecture to the students and faculty of CUI on ‘Managing and Surviving PhD Studies’, in which he explained the effective management and supervision of PhD studies. The students and faculty members of CUI Islamabad Campus attended the lecture physically while students of other CUI campuses attended virtually. As an experienced academic and supervisor, Professor Munir shared invaluable advice aimed at both current and prospective PhD students.

Professor Rahat Munir’s lecture proved to be a highly impactful event for COMSATS University’s PhD community. The students greatly benefitted from his expertise. At the end of the event, Head IO presented a CUI souvenir to the visiting guest and a group photo marked the end of the event.
