Welcome to the Department of Biosciences at COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad Campus. Biosciences lie at the heart of understanding and addressing the challenges of our rapidly changing world. They not only help us comprehend our role in the global ecosystem but also provide the foundation for informed decisions that shape national policies, economies, and societal well-being. By studying living systems through a scientific lens, biosciences contribute significantly to improving human health and advancing global development.
Established in 2007, the Department of Biosciences aims to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in emerging areas of biological sciences. Our mission is to train future leaders in modern biology by integrating disciplines such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and information technology. We foster a dynamic academic and research environment that enables students to explore the complexities of life using genetic, molecular, and computational approaches.
Since its inception, the department has grown remarkably and now offers:
- 3 BS programs: Bioinformatics, Biochemistry and Food Science and Nutrition
- 1 MS programs: Biosciences,
- 1 PhD programs: Microbiology & Immunology
We take pride in our accomplished faculty, comprising 14 PhD holders trained at prestigious institutions across the USA, UK, Germany, France, China, Korea, Japan, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, and other developed nations.
