The Department of Mathematics has arranged a seminar entitled "Modular Arithmetic on Polynomial Rings and its Applications” on June 4, 2021 by Dr. Shabieh Farwa. Modular arithmetic is generally carried over integers, however, an interesting analogy of modular arithmetic can be considered over the polynomial rings. From recent developments regarding the applications of modern algebra, it is a motivating study to explore the structural properties of finite fields. In this session, the participants learned about the construction of finite fields by the help of irreducible primitive polynomials, by deploying modular arithmetic. Further, the speaker relates the output with some selective recent study and applications of finite fields.
