Faculty Training on Outcome Based Education

The one-day workshop on Outcome Based Education was successfully conducted on the 30th December. The objective of this workshop was to improve faculty’s understanding of outcome based education as it relates to the ABET accreditation process. The workshop consisted of sessions covering the following topics by following speakers:

i.  ABET Accreditation Process and Outcome Based Education: The overall Concept by Dr Amir Hayat
ii. Direct and Indirect Assessment Methods by Dr Sadaf Tanvir
iii. How to Use Academic Assessment Rubrics by Dr Ahmad Shahid
iv. Defining Student Outcomes Using Bloom’s Taxonomy by Dr Iftikhar Azim
v.  Course Descriptions Form (CDF) Preparation by Dr Iftikhar Azim
vi. Assessment of Learning Outcomes Achievement and Continuous Improvement Process by Dr Yasir Faheem

The sessions were interactive and faculty members learned through discussion and question and answer session. Faculty members also gave useful suggestions to the HOD for bringing about  improvements for the program. 
The workshop has helped in increasing the overall understanding of matters related to ABET accreditation. There was a general consensus that the accreditation process will improve the quality of the BS(CS) program and will help the department in implementing robust processes.
