Broaden your horizon! With this intent, CIIT organized an educational visit of a group of 27 students comprising of 18 males and 9 females along with 6 faculty members to visit Istanbul, Turkey from 21st August 2015 till 31st August 2015
The visit was in continuation of a series of educational visits which had earlier, twice, taken place to provide CIIT students first hand exposure to a foreign country and culture, for cross-cultural awareness and assessment of the available educational & research opportunities.
The ten day visit included visits to two leading universities namely Istanbul Technical University and Duzce University.
Istanbul Technical University (ITU) was visited on 24th August 2015. The CIIT group was welcomed by the university’s Vice Rector Prof. Mehmet Sabri Celik at their main campus located at Ayazaga, who appreciated the initiative of the visit and vowed to support all collaborative activities. To showcase their university, ITU staff showed the CIIT group their National Center of High Performance Computing, Faculty of Electrical & Electronics and Faculty of Computer and Informatics and provided them information including educational and research opportunities available.
Duzce University, which has extensive collaboration with CIIT through student and faculty exchanges, was visited on 26th August 2015. After three hours of journey from Istanbul, the CIIT group was honored by being warmly received and welcomed by the Vice President Prof. Dr. Ilhan Young along with Mr. Mehmet Mert, an official of the International Office. The group was subsequently shown the university’s beautiful campus and delivered briefing, each by the faculty of Engineering, Technology and Business Administration to cover the faculty’s basic facts and its educational and research opportunities available.
It may be underscored that Duzce university officials firmly appreciated the ongoing collaborative activities between their university & CIIT and suggested further areas of collaboration through the Erasmus plus and the planned launch of a dedicated interdisciplinary program specifically for CIIT. Collaboration between the techno parks of the two universities was also suggested.
Apart from these two visit, the program also included sightseeing of Istanbul attractions including the visit to the Blue Mosque, Galata Tower, Sultan Ahmet, Taksim Square, Bosphorus bridge, Grand Bazaar, Princess Islands, etc.
The visit was made possible through the cooperation and courtesy of the Turkish Embassy which issued the visas on time and Turkish Higher Education who supported by designating a local guide during the entire duration of the visit. Height of courtesy was extended by Akcakoca municipality through hosting of a dinner for the CIIT group by their Deputy Mayor. Pakistan Embassy in Ankara and the Consulate in Istanbul contributed by making logistics and accommodation arrangements.
The visit indisputably reasserts CIIT’s top management’s commitment to internationalization, value creation, and quality improvement. It will certainly leave a lasting impression on the participating students and staff and has undoubtedly equipped them with invaluable cross cultural sensitization and learning experience.
