Prof. Dr. Saqib Gulzar from the Department of Management Sciences, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus, attended and delivered an invited keynote address at the 1st International Turkic World Conference on Artificial Intelligence Ethics held in Baku, Azerbaijan held on October 28–29, 2025. The event brought together leading academics, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the ethical challenges emerging from the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

In his keynote titled “The Ghost in the Machine: Confronting Bias, Risk, and Responsibility in AI-Driven Systems”. He highlighted the hidden complexities and decision-making opacity of modern generative AI systems. He emphasized pressing concerns such as algorithmic bias, privacy and surveillance issues, AI-generated misinformation, and the growing need for clear accountability in automated systems. He stressed that responsible AI development requires transparency, ethical governance, and a strong commitment to human dignity and cultural values.

This significantly contributed to conference discussions, particularly on the development of a Turkic World AI Ethics Charter, enhancing international cooperation on AI policy, strengthening governance frameworks, and promoting AI ethics education across universities. Organizers appreciated his scholarly depth and described his keynote as one of the most influential sessions of the conference.

The conference concluded with a shared commitment among participating institutions to advance safe, ethical, and culturally informed AI practices reflecting the vision articulated by Prof. Dr. Saqib Gulzar.
