Applications are now open for the prestigious DAAD EPOS Scholarships for the MSc Environmental Governance (MEG) Programme at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Germany, for the 2026–2027 academic year. This highly competitive, fully funded scholarship targets young professionals from developing countries seeking to advance their education and impact sustainable governance in their home countries.

Eligibility criteria: This scholarship is open to applicants from developing countries.

The scholarship is open to young professionals from developing countries (DAC-listed) who meet all the following criteria:

1. Bachelor’s degree completed within the last 6 years (before October 2025)

2. At least 2 years of relevant professional experience post-graduation (volunteering/internships not accepted)

3. A strong academic record (top third of class)

4. Must have not resided in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application

5. Must demonstrate genuine need for a second Master’s (if already holding one)

6. Must meet MEG programme admission criteria and DAAD requirements

Required Documents (All in one PDF):

1. DAAD Application Form (with matching information across all application materials)

2. MEG Application Form

3. Letter of Motivation (as per MEG Guidelines, max 2 pages, with date of issue)

4. If applying to multiple EPOS programmes, a second motivation letter is required.

5. CV in Europass format (no gaps, reverse chronological order, with date of issue)

6. Transcript of Records with final grade, grading scale, and certified translation (if needed)

7. University Degree Certificate (Bachelor’s and master’s if applicable)

8. Work Experience Certificate(s) (stating exact dates on official letterhead, with signature and stamp)

9. Two Recommendation Letters

10. One from current employer (DAAD requirement)

11. One from an academic supervisor (MEG requirement)

12. English Language Certificate

13. Accepted tests: TOEFL iBT (min. 95), IELTS (Band 7), Cambridge C1, PTE (score 76)

14. Must be valid at time of application or test must be scheduled no later than October 15

15. Signed DAAD Checklist (must be signed by hand, not digital)

16. APS Certificate (only for applicants from China, India, Vietnam; can be submitted later)

Important Notes

· Submit an online eligibility assessment (OEA) by October 8, 2025, to verify your eligibility

· All documents must be merged into a single compressed PDF

· Reference letters must be emailed by the referee directly

· Final shortlisted candidates will be notified in January 2026 and invited for an interview

· Final scholarship results will be announced by mid-February 2026
