Islamabad: A large number of Vice-Chancellors/ Rectors/ Presidents of universities of different Islamic countries visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on December 11, 2022. The countries include Nigeria, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tanzania and Uganda. The Rector CUI Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal welcomed the delegates followed by a presentation of CUI which was made by Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office. The delegates were briefed about COMSATS University’ history, faculties, departments, research activities, rankings and achievements and showed them university facilities and Junaid Zaidi Central Library. CUI has seven campuses with nine research centers in the country. It has over 2,100 faculty members with over 1,100 faculty members having PhD degrees from advanced countries. CUI has 33,000 students including 400 international students enrolled in different campuses. The university offers more than 100 degree programs at BS, MS and PhD level. More than 90,000 alumni including 1,750 international alumni from 38 nationalities are serving in different sectors of economy of the country as well as outside Pakistan.

The Rectors expressed mutual interests in developing cooperation between CUI and universities of Islamic countries. They also affirmed their intentions to further discuss various ways to foster institutional cooperation and engagements.
