Islamabad: A delegation from Kazakhstan visited COMSATS University Islamabad on December 9, 2022. The delegation comprised of Dr. Pen Sergey Gennadyevich, Rector (Provost), M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, Kazakhstan and Prof. Dr. Kopishev Eldar Ertaevich, Head of Chemistry Department, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan. The two-member delegation met with Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal, Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad along-with Prof. Mahmood A Kiyani, Professor, Department of Bio Sciences and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head, International Office. The purpose of the visit was to explore mutual areas of academic and research collaborations between universities of two countries.

The host briefed the delegates about COMSATS’ history, faculties, departments, research activities, rankings and achievements and showed them university facilities, labs and library. The Rectors and Prof. Eldar expressed mutual interests in developing cooperation between their universities. They also affirmed their intentions to further discuss various ways to foster institutional cooperation.

The COMSATS University Islamabad has seven campuses with nine research centers in the country. It has over 2,100 faculty members with over 1,100 faculty members having PhD degrees from advanced countries. The varsity has more than 33,000 enrolled students and offers more than 100 degree programs at BS, MS and PhD level. Further the varsity has more than 90,000 alumni serving in different sectors of economy of the country as well as outside Pakistan. The delegation was also shown different academic and research facilities and infrastructure of CUI.

CUI hopes that this visit will be an opportunity for boosting internationalization.
