Message from Head of Department
I am grateful to Allah for bestowing upon me all the blessings and opportunities in my life. With privileges come responsibilities and as a Head of the Department of Biotechnology, I am committed to carrying out my responsibilities with dedication, hard work, and honesty. My goal is to provide our students with the maximum resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and achieve their goals in life.
Biotechnology is one of the emerging branches of science with implications in the fields of agriculture, food industry, nutrition, medicine, and forensic sciences. Education and research in biotechnology has become a need of time for the benefit of humanity and the sustainability of the environment.
I am honored and fortunate to work with a team of highly qualified and talented faculty members who share my vision of making this Department a leading center in biotechnology education and research. They are gifted with immense talent to bring the best out of the students for the betterment of society.
The Department of Biotechnology is recently established at COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus. we are currently offering BS-Biotechnology, a 4-years degree program, on our campus. I sincerely invite you to join us at the Department of Biotechnology in our mission of making Pakistan proud through significant scientific contributions.
Biotechnology scope
- Drug discovery, and vaccine formulation and development
- Genetic Engineering in plants, animals and microorganisms
- Bio-fertilizers
- Bio-insecticides
- Forensic labs (both in private and government sector)
- Food industry (as analyst in fermentation and preservation)
- Textile industry
- Federal and provincial teaching institutes
Eligibility requirements for the program
The eligibility criteria will at large be in conformity with the CUI policies, however, following general considerations will be applicable to all applicants. In principle, the applicants must have secured at least 50% marks in the last examination and may not have more than two second divisions in his/her entire academic career.
- Applicants having 12 years of education (F.Sc Pre-Medical) with minimum 50% marks
- The entrance test conducted by the NTS will be treated as qualifying examination.
- A subject test will be conducted for all applicants qualifying the NTS entrance test by the department of Environmental and Biosciences.
