About the award
The Science Communication Award, hosted by scientifyRESEARCH, is an international competition that invites scientists to translate their cutting-edge, peer-reviewed research into engaging written and video content for non-specialist audiences. The award recognizes researchers who not only advance scientific knowledge but also make their science accessible to the public.
This year’s topic
The second edition of the scientifyRESEARCH SciComm Award celebrates progress in rare disease research and healthcare. Collectively, rare diseases affect more than 5% of the world’s population. By connecting researchers, research funders, patient advocates, those affected by rare diseases, and the general public, we aim to showcase how scientific progress has, and will lead to practical solutions for rare diseases.

Eligibility

Your essay must be based on your recently published primary research article, in a reputable peer-reviewed scientific journal since January 1, 2023

You must be affiliated with reputable academic research institutions / universities anywhere in the world that is not subject to UN/EU/US sanctions

Essays must show how their conclusions are supported by sound research methods that promote an evidence-based society, in 1000 words or less

Essays should be understandable by a general audience
