Defined as a side effect of the Industrial Revolution, consumerism has been around for many, many years. What started out as a boost in economic development turned into a strategy of targeted advertising that works by recognizing and exploiting insecurities of individuals and manipulates them into spending their money on needless items. The practice was carried out through the years and thus began ‘The Vicious Cycle’. Living in a world revolving around consumerism as become quite normal but it has destructive effects on a person’s state of mind as well as the surrounding environment. Complete eradication is not possible but realization and awareness is one step closer to change for the better. This will be achieved by launching a pull campaign featuring a series of collages with the aim to make people ‘Think About It.’ ‘It’ being the impulsive decisions one makes before splurging on unnecessary items. The campaign will be run on social media to encourage rethinking of buying practices while simultaneously providing a low cost, non-profit solution that will encourage the use of reusable bags, bottles, cups, etc. rather than all the non-biodegradable items that are purchased in abundance on a daily basis.
