Ashtoni and the Inner Worlds

Had I not been dissociative, I would never have survived.”
― Wendy Hoffman (2015)

Dissociative identity disorder is a creative survival mechanism. It is a versatile reaction to an early childhood repetitive trauma.

Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is identified by the presence of two or more than two personality states known as ‘Alters’. Alters are self-states who have different genders, ages, voices, and roles who perform tasks like Protectors who keep everyone safe, Persecutors who are highly defensive, Littles who are timid? Every Alter has different internal worlds, with distinct sizes, fantasies, with discrete levels which include Utopia, imagination, fear, fantasy, etc also known as headspaces.

The aim of this project is to use DID as inspiration to explore the different fantasy inner worlds. The design solution will be a fictional graphic novel focusing on the creative survival of a main protagonist and the roles of other alters. The project is an experimental fictional graphic novel following different styles of painting.
