CHAMRRA

This work explores the history of leather preservation, the ancient craft of Vegetable Tanning and the potential benefits it has to offer with its very unique functional properties, traditional aesthetic, and environmental-friendly nature due to all organic and locally found ingredients. It hopes to preserve this gradually disappearing craft by reintroducing it to a larger audience such as average leather consumers, artisans, and those who care about the environment.

It is an effort to educate people about the good practices of leather production and sensitize towards the currently popular environmentally hazardous and ‘toxic’ methods of commercial leather production such as Chromium Tanning and the intent is to popularize the process of Vegetable Tanning yet a better alternative and spread awareness about the great characteristics of its product.
