In Pakistan and many other South Asian countries, there is a special social validation given to marriage, unmarried girls are looked down at and it is believed that marriage is the only way to a girl’s prosperity, which results in young girls believing that marriage as an easy escape from all their problems without knowing what it truly is.
To find a solution to this problem The Behanchara Initiative is proposed. An organization that aims to educate and empower females to make conscious and well thought out decisions about their lives through the education of basic life skills. The Behanchara Initiative focuses on initiating and strengthening a bond of sisterhood i.e., Behanchara among young girls and females so that they can be each other’s support system and together, overcome these suppressing cultural norms.
At the Behanchara initiative we aim to conduct workshops to educate, arrange support groups to be each other's source of comfort and design content that can help young girls grow and feel empowered enough to break from the cultural norms.
