In a world constantly changing, the presence and absence are not just opposites but are deeply intertwined with our emotions, connections and understanding of life. How people in our lives can affect us with their presence as well as with the impact of their absence. My topic basically refers to the concept that the absence of something can be as significant as their presence, often signifying a powerful presence through its lack, creating a sense of incompleteness or a void that is deeply felt even if not physically there.” To explore this concept visually, I chose to work with trees, as they are powerful natural symbols of life, growth, connection, and endurance. In my painting series, I depict tree trunks, some with natural holes, damage, or broken parts, and others with deliberately incomplete sections, to reflect the feeling of absence. These voids in the tree structures represent emotional or relational gaps that occur when someone or something important is missing. Just like in real life, these broken or hollow parts become noticeable only when we focus on them, similar to how we often realize the value of people or connections only after they are gone. I use the natural textures and organic lines of trees to mirror the human experience of change, fragility, and connection.
