Paw Alert - Digitizing Pet Rescue

My thesis focuses on the development of a mobile application that seeks to target the rampant animal abuse and ineffective rescue systems within the country of Pakistan, particularly in the twin cities. It acts as a link between the public and animal shelters and enhances the reporting as well as the response framework concerning injured or abandoned animals.

The application is designed with a simple reporting mechanism consisting of three steps: users can take pictures of an animal that needs help and pin its location which will instantly be sent to nearby shelters as well as volunteer rescuers. This suspension of time can provide timely assistance to the animals, thus preventing further casualties.

To relieve some of the many responsibilities faced by the already crowded shelters, the application has an adoption section which puts forth strays and actively seeks to put them in contact with potential adopters. Also, there is a donation section that seeks to aid in the operations of the shelters.

A community section boosts user activity by letting users post success stories, share before-after pictures, and even celebrate the joint efforts. The major goal is to inspire people to take pro-active steps towards the animal welfare in Pakistan.
