Shehar-e-Novin is a blend of the Urdu word Shehar (city) with the Persian word Novin (new or modern), symbolizing a city reborn—one that merges innovation with heritage, creating a space that is both technologically advanced and emotionally connected to its past. It explores a visionary future for Rawalpindi’s historic inner city, Androon Pindi, set in the year 2075 by addressing current challenges such as overcrowding and the fading cultural depth in the urban experience through human-centered, smart city designs, etc. This concept promotes a shift in public mindset, engaging communities to support progress while proudly preserving their heritage. It reflects my deep fascination with the city’s historical richness and my childhood curiosity, imagining a future Rawalpindi that is not only modern and accessible but also timeless in spirit. To complement the thesis vision, an illustrated book has been created. It narrates the journey of a girl exploring Androon Pindi in 2075, offering a glimpse into the city’s transformation through a futuristic interpretation of well-known landmarks and cultural spots. It plays a vital role in emotionally connecting audiences, helping them imagine the future not just through facts, but through storytelling, imagination, and visual detail.
