Microaggressions are deeply embedded in our society, especially the ones we’ve been taught to ignore, normalize, or laugh off. These small, everyday remarks may seem harmless on the surface, but they often carry layers of judgment, bias, and emotional harm.
Through relatable illustrations and honest storytelling, “It’s Just a Joke” explores how microaggressions can quietly affect a person’s self-esteem, confidence, and sense of identity over time. The book aims to start conversations around the comments we’ve learned to accept in silence and gently challenge them.
Its deeper purpose is to invite readers to learn, unlearn, and uplift, to reflect on how our words impact others, and to become more mindful in how we speak and respond.
