The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized an industrial visit to Pakistan Railway's Central Diesel Locomotive (CDL) workshop, Rawalpindi on April 30, 2024 under the supervision of Lecturer, Usama Tahir for the students of BS(ME) 4th semester to explore the insight the intricacies of locomotive overhaul and repair maintenance.

The visit coordinator, Mr. Farooq explained to the students about the activities performed in CDL workshop. The students observed the meticulous processes involved in maintaining and repairing train locomotives. Students participated in an interactive sessions led by experienced railway technicians, asking questions and gaining deeper insights into locomotive maintenance and engineering principles.

Students also witnessed hands-on demonstrations of repair techniques, guided by skilled technicians. They observed the disassembly and reassembly of locomotive components, gaming valuable insights into practical engineering practices.

Beyond technical knowledge, students established invaluable networking by interacting with industry professionals, allowed students to forge connections, gain insights into career pathways, and explore potential internship opportunities within the railway sector.

At the end the students extended their sincere gratitude to Mr. Ahsan Zamir (Works Manager), Mr. Fahad Qaisar (AWM), Mr. Rizwan Ahmad Khan (sub engr.) and Mr. Farooq for coordinating the visit and providing all possible cooperation. Additionally, they thanked the staff and technicians at the CDL workshop for their hospitality and invaluable insights shared during the visit.

This industrial visit was not only educational but also inspiring and served as a reminder of the importance of bridging classroom learning with real-world applications by preparing the students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their engineering careers.
