COMSATS University Islamabad and Iran Collaborate on Academic and Cultural Initiatives

The International Office, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), hosted Mr. Karim Motahari, Incharge Academic Affairs, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on August 19, 2025, to strengthen academic and cultural ties between CUI and Iranian HEIs.The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hammad Omer T.I., Head International Office (IO), with an active participation of Ms. Samira Shah, Desk Officer (Iran), Ms. Ayesha Masood, Coordinator (Iran Desk), Mr. Abbas Baloch, Senior Program Officer and Mr. Arif Awan, Senior Program Officer from the IO. The meeting reviewed the ongoing collaborations and explored opportunities for cultural cooperation, Persian language short courses, and a guest lecture by the Iranian Ambassador for CUI students and faculty. During his visit, Mr. Motahari also called upon the Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad, and conveyed the Embassy’s keen interest in enhancing academic cooperation with CUI

Later, Mr. Motahari explored the Iranian Book Corner at the Junaid Zaidi Library, commending the modern facilities. Both sides expressed enthusiasm for furthering academic and cultural collaborations. Key outcomes include exploring cooperative opportunities such as webinars, student exchange programs, participation in summer camps on reciprocal basis with Iranian universities and planning semester-wise activities with the Iranian Embassy.

The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of goodwill and a firm commitment to future collaboration, reflecting the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Iran. This visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening the academic and cultural partnership between Iranian universities and CUI.
