NSDI Workshop

Department of Meteorology, COMSATS University Islamabad, recently organized a workshop on the feasibility study for the establishment of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) for Pakistan. The workshop brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss the key aspects related to the development of NSDI in Pakistan.

The workshop aimed to explore phase-wise development plan required for the establishment of NSDI. Participants also examined the observations on emerging NSDIs and the status of NSDI implementation in Pakistan. During the workshop, the participants had insightful discussions on the current status of NSDI implementation in Pakistan. The workshop highlighted the need for a robust NSDI for Pakistan, which can provide a comprehensive framework for the collection, management, and dissemination of geospatial data in the country. NSDI is a critical component of any modern society, enabling the integration and sharing of spatial data across different sectors. It provides a platform for decision-makers, researchers, and planners to access accurate and up-to-date spatial information that can be used for various purposes, including disaster management, urban planning, and environmental monitoring.

The organizers expressed their sincere appreciation to the Department of Meteorology, COMSATS University Islamabad, for their efforts in bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders and experts. The workshop provided an important platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices among stakeholders and experts from across the country.
