Mr. Furqan Mahmud, Research Associate, Department of Meteorology, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) attended the Shawwal moon sighting meeting on May 23, 2020. The meeting was held at Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Islamabad. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting was held at Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), main University Road, Karachi.

The crescent for the Islamic month of SHAWWAL, 1441 AH was reported as “not sighted” by the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committee, Islamabad but on the Evidences of moon sighting collected by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee from Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committee office of Baluchistan, the New Moon for the Islamic month of SHAWWAL, 1441 Hijri was declared as “Seen” by the chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
