On August 28, 2024, a delegation from the Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT) visited Excellency Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to Pakistan. The delegation was comprised of Dr. Tahir Naeem, Executive Director, INIT; Mr. Muhammad Atiq-ur-Rehman, Senior Manager, INIT; and Mr. Tajammul Hussain, Former Director General (Programs), COMSATS. Mr. Ihab, Deputy Head of Mission, at the Embassy of Sudan in Islamabad, Pakistan also attended the meeting.
Dr. Tahir Naeem briefed the Hon’ble Ambassador of the longstanding and profound relationship between the Republic of the Sudan and INIT. The association began with Sudan joining INIT as its founding member back in 2005. Over the years, this close relationship has translated into several engagements between the two entities convened in Pakistan, Sudan and overseas. Dr. Naeem highlighted the technical assistance accorded to Sudan in establishing Institute of Information Technology at Khartoum, Sudan and a conference arranged at Khartoum in October 2010.
In recognition of the esteemed relationship between INIT and the Republic of the Sudan, Dr. Tahir Naeem presented a commemorative memento to His Excellency the Ambassador. This gesture symbolized the deep respect and commitment INIT holds for its member states.
His Excellency, the Ambassador of Sudan, expressed optimism about the conditions in Sudan and opined that soon conditions would be favorable for the implementation of the ‘Establishment of the Institute of Information Technology in Khartoum, Sudan’. INIT assured the dignitaries of its support in the realization of the project.
In his closing remarks, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan expressed his appreciation and gratitude for INIT’s ongoing efforts to promote ICTs practices in Sudan. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and expanding the existing ties between Sudan and Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology.
