1-day Training Workshop on Applications of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System organized under Kamyab Jawan Program held on 15 June 2022

Earth & Atmospheric Remote Sensing Lab (EARL) of Department of Meteorology, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad Campus organized a 1-day Training Workshop on Applications of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System on 15 June 2022. The workshop was organized under Kamyab Jawan Program. The workshop encompassed theory and hands on training exercises and focused on capacity building of individuals to foster the understanding of concepts and practicality of Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS techniques. The workshop addressed approaches to developing a range of land cover, water mapping, and other information products. In the first part of training, Sentinel-3 SLSTR products were used to monitor Active Forest Fires in Margalla Hills on 6 June 2022. In the second part of training, Landsat 5 (2001) and Landsat 9 (2021) images were used to detect the changes due to urbanization and deforestation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi Regions.
