Biography:

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fasih Uddin Butt is an innovative researcher and academician. He joined COMSATS in November 2002 as a Research Associate and progressed to the position of Assistant Professor on OG in 2006. He did PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with Specialization in Wireless Communication Systems from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom in 2010. After his PhD he joined back COMSATS as Assistant Professor on TTS and has been involved in teaching, research and administration. He taught several courses related to communication and signal processing to both UG and PG students. He has successfully supervised 5 PhD and 22 MS students in the field of Telecommunications Engineering. He published in prestigious peer reviewed journals and conferences. He has a total impact factor of around 70. He presented his works in several IEEE sponsored conferences. In addition, he has supervised numerous undergraduate design projects. Most of the projects were done in collaboration with local and international companies. Amongst them a few won prizes in local and international competitions. He served as Senior Incharge Graduate Program from year 2012 till 2014. From 2013 till 2016, he effectively oversaw the responsibilities of Associate Head of Department. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Tenured Associate Professor. In 2021, he completed postdoc from the University of Southampton, UK in the area of machine learning for massive internet of things focusing on smart cities applications. He was prompted to the rank of Tenured Professor in July 2023.
