Biography:

Dr. Tayyaba Yasmin is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Biosciences. Her research focuses on biochemistry, functional genomics, epigenetics, astrobiology, and the therapeutic potential of secondary metabolites from medicinal plants. She also investigates stress-responsive genes in economically important crops using advanced biotechnological approaches. Dr. Tayyaba also applies bioinformatics tools in protein structure modeling/Docking and simulations, promoter analysis, alkaloid–promoter interactions, and phylogenetics. Over the years, she has made significant contributions to both teaching and research, supervising more than 60 undergraduate and graduate students, including 5 PhD scholars. She is currently guiding 10 MS/PhD students for thesis research.

Beyond academics, Dr. Tayyaba has held key administrative positions, serving as Associate Head of Department from 2013 to 2016 and as Head of the Biosciences Department from 2016 to 2017.
