Dr. Muhammad Hannan Younis earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2013. He was part of the FIRST (Fragmentation of Ions Relevant for Space and Therapy) collaboration, contributing to experiments at GSI laboratories, Darmstadt, Germany, where a 400 MeV/u ¹²C beam was used on gold and carbon targets. His research focused on analyzing the angular and energy distributions of nuclear fragments produced in tissues by ion beams in hadron therapy, aiming to assess secondary effects on human tissues after irradiation. Currently, Dr. Hannan is a Tenured Associate Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad, where he teaches and conducts laboratory demonstrations in Radiation Physics. His expertise includes working with GM counters, NaI(Tl) detectors, gamma spectroscopy, surface barrier detectors, HPGe detectors, SSNTDs, and neutron activation analysis using Am-Be sources. He has been invited to present at several international conferences in Germany (2012), Spain (2014), Japan (2016), and China (2018). His current research interests encompass environmental radioactivity measurements, hospital dosimetry studies, radon monitoring, and alpha, beta, and gamma radiation assessments. Additionally, he actively supervises Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. students in these areas. He is also engaged in research related to Medical Physics and Environmental Studies, with ongoing projects in collaboration with hospitals such as SHIFA Hospital Islamabad and NORI Hospital.
