Biography:

Rana Liaqat Ali:

I have competed my Ph.D. (2013) from Department of Electrical Engineering COMSATS Islamabad. The research collaboration in the area of adaptive Systems at Lancaster University (InfoLAB21) England, UK was good experience. Done my masters M.Sc. Electronics, 1999 Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad and MS in Electrical Engineering from Air University, Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2006. Worked as System Engineer in PANASONIC (in 1999) dealing broad cast equipment's for installations, commissioning and maintenance. After this joined AIR University for teaching and technical administrations. Joined COMSATS University in 2006 as Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Department of Electrical Engineering and Physics (2006 to 2022). Established and precured 8 different Engineering LABs. Currently, working as Associate Professor at Electronics Program, Department of Physics. contributions to the dept. are: In-charge Electronics Program 2012-20221), Convenor curriculum review committee and senior member of Industrial Lison Remain In-charge Microprocessor Systems LAB worked on various LAB upgradation at Dept. of Physics and also working with my BS-Electronics and MS, PhD students. 

Currently
, working as Incharge Embedded Systems Research LAB established under NRPU-10393-HEC.  My research interests include Adaptive Systems including Array Processing, Beamforming and Smart Arrays.

International National Funded Project:

 International Collaboration with Industry Program DSR-ICGR-001  (2021-2022)

        (A RESEARCH PROJECT FUNDED BY UNIVERSITY OF JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA)

  In this collaborative project a prototype of the Project Titled: "Smart IoT Tracking and Monitoring for Handicapped: Hajj and Umrah Perspective" is in progress. A Smart Monitoring system prototype is designed for handicapped Pilgrims and an article regarding proposed solution will be published in reputed journal.

A Collaborative Research work was published “Characterizing Dynamic Load Balancing in Cloud Environments Using Virtual Machine Deployment Models”.

This work was supported by the Basic Sciences Research Program (2017030223) Funded by the Ministry of Education and international cooperation program (2018090561, FY2018) managed by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and supported by Higher Education Commission (HEC) at COMSATS University Islamabad Pakistan under grant no NRPU/2017/10393.


National Funded Project:

 1)                National Research Program for Universities (NRPU)                  

            Principle Investigator (PI): Dr. Rana Liaqat Ali

 

  A project with titled “Design and Implementation of Walking AID for Blind People”, with estimated budget of Rs. xxxxxxx.xx/- was       approved from HEC (2018-2022) with reference ID-10393.

 It is worth mentioning that in this project following are the completed tasks (as below):

a) The research product Walking AID for Blind People was designed and tested. The conceived prototype was completed with the improved results. The indigenous design with lower budget cost was the need of the special people.

b) A Basic testing LAB “Embedded Systems LAB” is established for the adaptive systems testing and implementation at Department of Physics, CUI, Islamabad campus, with the support of CUI and NRPU-10393 current project funded by HEC. Faculty and students are using this facility to implement their final year projects and other hardware implementations.

c) Two BS Thesis are completed and successfully defended by implementing this idea proposed in this project and also utilized this grant and the LAB facility.

d) One MS thesis is defended successfully by implementing and verify the techniques proposed in this project.

e) A research paper "Characterizing Dynamic Load Balancing in Cloud Environments using Virtual Machine Deployment Models." IEEE Access (2019), is Published in well reputed ISI Indexed Journal having Impact factor of 4:089.

f) A research paper "Sensor Cloud Frameworks: State-of-the-Art, Taxonomy, and Research Issues." IEEE Sensors Journal (2021), is Published in well reputed ISI Indexed Journal having (Q1 IF 3.98 2021)

g) Research Assistant: A Ph.D. Scholar Mr. Ahsan was hired to the project and worked on the research work and testbed for the compilation of the project.

            Funding was utilized for the undergrade project of my student CIIT in 2012
