Biography:

Dr. Irfan Ullah Khattak has been working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) , Islamabad, Pakistan. He has held various research, education and management positions.

Dr. Irfan Ullah Khattak has a background in Bio-Medical imaging  having held postdoctoral positions at microstructural Lab, University of Iowa, Iowa, USA.He received his PhD in the field of Bio-Medical imaging. He received his MS (Technology) degree from Tampere University of Technology(TUT), Tampere, Finland and Computer Engineering degree from CUI, Islamabad, Pakistan. He was working as a Research Associate (February 2009 – August 2010) in Digital and Computer Engineering Department at TUT. Before that (August 2007 – August 2008) he was working as a Research Assistant in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at CUI. He is member of ISMRM, ESMRMB and IEEE.

His main research interests includes image reconstruction in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and exploit inherent parallelism by utilizing GPU-based parallel architecture implementation. Other interests includes Embedded Systems, Multi-Processor Systems, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He is the author or co-author of around twenty scientific publications and three USPTO patents in the field of biomedical imaging. He has supervised or co-supervised about  80 Undergrad and 10 Master students. He reviewed technical papers in the field of biomedical imaging for many national and international journals on permanent and ad-hoc bases.
