Biography:

Dr. Saira Arif is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry, COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, Austria in 2012. Her research “Mechanistic study of pulsed laser cleaning of biogenetic and synthetic polymeric materials” focuses on understanding the interaction of materials with lasers and the mechanisms involved at the interfaces.She has worked with Nanosecond Pulsed Nd:YAG laser system. Laser induced model contamination removal from Model samples (Model Papers and Polymer materials) has been extensively studied. The state-of-the-Art technology was then applied to real case studies i.e. contamination removal from historical postage stamps, stationery samples and metallic samples. She has also worked on the synthesis of polymeric and composite materials using various techniques e.g. solution polymerization and Laser induced polymerization techniques, and studied their structural, mechanical and thermal properties.
