Biography:

Dr. Maryam Mehmood is a Lecturer at the Department of Biosciences, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI). She is currently teaching "Fundamentals of Biology" to undergraduate students in Allied Faculties (Department of Humanities) of CUI and she find it fascinating and worthy to relate the value of Biological Sciences in various fields of life: Psychology, English, International relations and Physics. In 2023, she accomplished her PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology  from the Department of Biosciences, CUI under the thesis title, "Molecular Elucidation of Drought Stress Responses in Sesame (Sesamum indicum)" as a sound example of scientific research and an extensive description of the historical, botanical and nutritional relevance of sesame, a highly prized oil-rich seed crop. In 2011, she completed her Mphil in Biotechnology from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and earned her BS Bioinformatics degree from CIIT in 2009. She is an expert of understanding fundamental concepts of life through utilization of both classical biological knowledge and modern molecular interventions such as multi-omics strategies and Bioinformatics tools. She believes in the fact that Science is the study of nature and it directly connects human with nature to establish a strong bond between "Abd" and "Mabood". She holds a special desire in her heart to infuse the philosophical  spirit of Iqbaliyaat, spiritualism and Islamic teachings in Biology. In her eyes, Biology is Beautiful. So, is Life!
