Biography:

Dr. Farha Masood received her Doctoral degree in the field of Microbiology from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan and joined COMSATS University, Islamabad as an Assistant Professor.  She has been selected among Top 2% scientist of the world since 2020 (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020). The areas of her specializations include applied microbiology, biomaterials, and polymer based nano-composites for  targeted drug delivery, food packaging, wound dressings and  waste-water treatment. Dr. Masood is a recipient of PhD Fellowship for her MPhil leading to Doctoral studies, provided by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, under the Indigenous PhD Fellowship Program. Her PhD research revolved around process optimization of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using bacterial strains and its applications as drug carrier and biodegradable additive in bio-stable polymers. During her PhD, she got expertise in dealing with Microbial metabolite purification, SEM, HPLC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC,  NMR, PCR and cancer cell lines. Dr. Masood had also made degradation studies of polymeric composites.  During her stay at the University of Waterloo, Canada, she had designed a drug delivery system using polymeric nanoparticles for lung cancer treatment. Dr. Masood is running collaborative projects with eminent professors in renowned universities like University of Waterloo, Canada, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), International Islamic University (IIU) and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). Currently, she is supervising 4 PhD and 4 MS students at COMSATS.
