Biography:

Dr Muhammad Azeem s is an analytical and biochemist with vast experience of working with small organic molecules and their biological activities. During his PhD training he worked on the isolation of microbes from pine weevil frass. The title his PhD thesis was “Microbes associated with Hylobius abietis: a chemical and behavioral study”. During that study the microbes were isolated from the frass of pine weevil (Hylobius abietis). The isolated microbes were grown on various complex media and volatile organic compounds produced by bacterial and fungal isolates were collected by using headspace SPME, dynamic headspace and analysed on GC-MS. He also worked on the analysis of non-volatile compounds using LC-MS and UPLC-MS. He is expert of chromatography and mass spectrometry. Currently, he working on the chemical composition of extractives from Pakistani aromatic plants and their biological activities against insects such as Aedes mosquitos, red flour beetles and plant pathogenic fungi His research interest includes but not limited to Development of analytical techniques for the analysis of organic molecules. Developing the ecological way of controlling pests insects by studying the chemistry of plants and microbes. Bio-degradation and bio-conversion of waste materials to valuable products. Bioremediation of polluted soils and water. Biological activity guided separation and structure elucidation of natural products from plants and microbes.
