Biography:

Dr. Syed Junaid Nawaz received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Abbottabad Campus, Pakistan, in August 2005 and February 2008, respectively. He completed his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad, in February 2012. During his doctoral studies, he attended one year at Staffordshire University, UK, as part of the EU Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program to pursue a part of his research work. His doctoral thesis, titled “Modeling and Characterization of Cellular Mobile Channels for 3-D Radio Propagation Environments,” contributed to advancing the understanding of wireless communication systems in complex propagation scenarios.

Since September 2005, Dr. Nawaz has held various academic and research/postdoc positions at renowned institutions, including COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan; the University of Rome "Tor Vergata," Italy; the University of York, UK; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece; Staffordshire University, UK; and Federal Urdu University, Pakistan. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor (Tenured) in the Department of Computer Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad.

Dr. Nawaz's research interests encompass a diverse range of topics in wireless communication and signal processing, including physical channel modeling and characterization, network-centric localization, physical layer security, multi-antenna systems, compressive sensing, vehicular communications, airborne internet, machine learning, medical image processing, and adaptive signal processing — to name a few.
