Biography:
Dr. Syed Asim Shah is an accomplished Assistant Professor under the Tenure Track System (TTS) in the Management Sciences department at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) Attock campus since January 01, 2018, till date. During his 5½ years tenure, he has a diverse set of research interests in the field of marketing, ranging from Healthcare Management and Entrepreneurship to Digital Marketing and Public Health. He has established himself as an asset to the academic community across the region. This dossier aims to highlight his achievements, contributions, and overall impact in his field of expertise. He has contributed to the University and research communities in four important areas: (1) Dr. Shah's research output is characterized by its quality, quantity, and impact. He has collaborated with numerous international authors, showcasing his ability to work effectively in diverse research teams. His dedication to research is evident from his impressive publication record with 20 research papers published in Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized local and international high-impact factor journals, verified by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) CUI, where five (5) articles are published in ABDC “A”, eight (8) articles in “W”, and remaining ones in “Y” category HEC recognized journals. Additionally, believing research is a continuous process, Dr. Shah has submitted half a dozen research papers in the abovementioned databases, which are under review for publication. These publications demonstrate his commitment to rigorous scholarship and his ability to contribute valuable insights to the field, thus meeting the university employment and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan requirements under Tenure Track System (TTS). Dr. Shah’s research Journey started in June 2016 with the Slogan, “Research is my Passion”. Dr. Shah has published in Emerald, Taylor & Francis, Sage Open, Springer International, Elsevier Ingenta Connect Publication, and MDPI research databases, as well as HEC-recognized journals. Dr. Shah is more passionate about research. He conceptualized plenty of models and started working on different ideas. Discovering the joy of research helped him to become a motivated researcher. Dr. Shah ‘s research consistency habit has become a key success factor in his research career. Dr. Shah has been an active participant in academic service and collaborations. He has served as a reviewer & guest editor for renowned academic journals, contributing his expertise to the peer-review process and ensuring the quality of published research. Furthermore, he has actively engaged in collaborative projects, both within his institution and with external partners, fostering interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange. For conducting meaningful research having an impact on society, he started interacting with internationally well-known researchers, such as, Professor Adriana Burlea-Schiopoiu (University of Craiova, Romania), José Moleiro Martins ISCAL (Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa), Sascha Kraus (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Economics & Management, Bolzano, Italy), Marianny Jessica de Brito Silva (Federal University of Pernambuco, Marielle Franco, Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil), Haywantee Ramkissoon (UniSA Business, University of South Australia, City West Campus, Adelaide, SA, Australia), Dilnaz Muneeb (Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi, UAE), Cai Jianfeng (Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an), Kareem M. (Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt), Islam Elgammal (University of Jeddah, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt). His research Journey is going smoothly way. Every day, he interacts with senior scholars worldwide. The outcome of the collaboration is a big motivation for him. (2) Dr. Shah's commitment to academic excellence is not limited to his research endeavors. As an Assistant Professor of Marketing, he has consistently demonstrated his passion for teaching and mentoring students. Through his engaging teaching methods and ability to inspire, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the minds of future business professionals. Dr. Shah's dedication to mentorship extends beyond the classroom, as he actively guides and supports students in their research endeavors and career development. Dr. Shah has adeptly taught various courses like Advanced Topics in Marketing, Advance Marketing Research, Industrial and Services Marketing, Sales Force Management, Marketing Management, Marketing Non-Profit Organizations, Marketing Theory & Practice, Agriculture Marketing, Seminar in Marketing, Marketing of Information Technology, Telecom Products, and Strategic Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and E-Commerce at the undergraduate and graduate levels. (3) Dr. Shah has supervised Master of Science (MS) Research Scholars (21 in all) at CUI Attock Campus. In addition, he has also served as an external supervisor of Ph.D. research scholars at Abasyn University Peshawar, City University Peshawar. All students’ research projects were successfully reviewed, enabling them to defend their research projects, with a number of them publishing research articles based on their theses in prestigious national and international journals. (4) He has been evaluating students, mentoring teachers and students, organizing various events & training workshops, and performing administrative duties such as Entrepreneurial Advisor at Students Startup Business Center (SSBC) Office, Focal Person for Industry academics, Focal Person of NBEAC for university Social Responsibility, Member Executive Committee NBEAC, Co-Advisor for campus environmental Protection Society (EPS), Advisor of Young Entrepreneurial Society (YES) Main Committee, Cluster Head Marketing, Convener of Academia-to-Academia Liaisons, Member of Graduate Studies Committee, and so on. He has planted more than 2000 plants at COMSATS Attock campus since 2018 to date including a fruit orchard, olive, pine, and lemon plants to contribute to the environmental sustainability of the Attock region. Dr. Syed Asim Shah is a persistent source of encouragement for industry & academics, encouraging them to attend various research-focused industry conferences that are held from time to time. He has signed letters of understanding (LOUs) with the National Incubation Center (NIC) Peshawar KPK, Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences) Peshawar, and SMEDA Punjab on behalf of COMSATS University Islamabad, Attock campus.
Dr. Shah is exclusively adding value to his campus and will enthusiastically continue to contribute to all of the above-mentioned areas in the near future, while also being prepared to take on, any other responsibilities in the department that are within his capacity and caliber. His primary concentration is research and industry contemporary issues, which consume the majority of his time and efforts. He intends to change his focus away from broad themes toward specific topics that have the potential to assist Pakistan on a micro level while also contributing to the global knowledge pool.
