Biography:

Dr. Muhammad Awais Javed is currently working as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Internet of Things (IoT) research group at COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Newcastle, Australia (Feb. 2015) and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Pakistan (Aug. 2008).

He is a Senior Member of IEEE. He has more than 10 years of R&D experience in the field of wireless networks, telecommunications, and intelligent transport systems. From 2010-2014, he worked on the project of multi-service packet transmission techniques for vehicular ad hoc networks at UoN as a Ph.D. student. Moreover, he also served as a research assistant for the smart cities project from Aug. 2014-Dec. 2014 at UoN.

He joined COMSATS University as an Assistant Professor in Feb. 2015. From July 2015-June 2016, he worked as a Postdoc Research Scientist at Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), Doha Qatar, which is the leading independent innovations center in the Gulf region with a focus on developing and deploying smart mobility systems and services. Particularly, he worked as part of the research team of the SafeITS project which was funded by the Qatar National Research Foundation. The research team comprised of researchers from QMIC, Purdue University, and Western Michigan University.
