Biography:

Dr. Shahzad Kouser is a Tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) since May 2021. Before, she had served as an Assistant Professor for 6 years at CUI and as an Assistant Professor for 1.8 years at the Institute of Agricultural and Resource Economics, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) and as a Lecturer for 6.8 years at UAF. In total, she has about 16 years experience of teaching and research at the University level. She holds her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Georg-August University of Goettingen, Germany in 2012 and has conducted her dissertation research on evaluating the impact of Bt cotton production technology on pesticide use, farmers’ health and the environment in Pakistan and India. She has published 17 papers in highly reputed impact factor international journals and 16 papers in HEC recognized national journals acceptable under tenure track system. She has also written one book, one book chapter and several newspaper articles. In addition, she has 56 conference proceedings of national and international levels. In 2017, Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society has honored her research paper with prestigious Donna Brennan Award. She has completed six research projects sponsored by national and international organizations. Currently, she is involved in one national project and one mega international project sponsored by Australian Government. She has also worked as a consultant with International Food Policy Research Institute, Washington DC on Bt cotton project in Pakistan. She is an active member of International Association of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) since 2011, Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) since 2017 and Pakistan Society of Development Economists (PSDE) . She is also the project reviewer of Agricultural Linkages Program (ALP) of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council. She has reviewed research papers of different international and national journals. Her main research areas are Agricultural Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Economics of Nutrition and Food Security, Health Economics, and Gender Economics. She has taught Agricultural Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Microeconomics, Mathematical Economics, Production Economics, Economics of Consumer Behaviour and Applied Econometrics. She is an HEC approved PhD supervisor since 2013. She has supervised research dissertations of 13 BS student,19 MS students  and 2 PhD students and currently she is supervising 1 BS student, 1 MS students and 4 PhD students.
