Biography:
Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khan is a current working as Assistant Professor at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, COMSATS University Islamabad, Attock Campus. He is distinguished researcher and educator in the field of Information and Communications Engineering. His remarkable journey in academia and research has led to groundbreaking contributions in the domains of Software-Defined Radios, Radio Frequency Sensing, Digital Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Signal Processing. Dr. Bilal work stands as a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge and his commitment to advancing technology for the betterment of society.
Dr. Bilal embarked on his academic journey at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology in Abbottabad, Pakistan. There, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering from September 2005 to July 2009. His undergraduate thesis, focused on "Software-Defined Radio using DSP," foreshadowed his future interests in cutting-edge technologies. Dr. Bilal academic excellence led him to pursue a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the same institution from September 2010 to January 2013. During this time, his thesis, "Performance Analysis of OFDMA-based Cooperative Network Over Different Fading Environments," demonstrated his early aptitude for advanced research. The zenith of Dr. Bilal academic journey was his pursuit of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information and Communications Engineering at Xidian University, China, from September 2018 to June 2021. His doctoral thesis, titled "Non-Contact Smart Health Sensing by Exploiting Software-Defined Radios Technology," marked a significant turning point in his career. This research endeavor combined his passion for Software-Defined Radios with his vision of revolutionizing healthcare through innovative technology. During his doctoral studies, his dedication was acknowledged with several prestigious accolades, including the Outstanding International Student in China (2020) and recognition for Academic Excellence (2020-2021). His studies were supported by the highly competitive Chinese Government Scholarship, a testament to his academic prowess.
In parallel with his research endeavors, Dr. Bilal has been a passionate educator, nurturing the next generation of engineers and researchers. He has held roles as a Lab Engineer, Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Postdoc Fellow at COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan and United Arab Emirates University imparting knowledge in subjects such as Signals and Systems, Electric Circuits Analysis, Digital Signal Processing, Principle of Communications, Wireless Communications, Internet of Things and Digital logic design. Dr. Bilal commitment to teaching and mentorship extends to his supervision of numerous undergraduate and graduate research projects, each contributing to the advancement of knowledge in their respective domains.
Dr. Bilal research has transcended borders, with collaborations with institutions across the globe, including the University of Glasgow, Ulster University, and Jeonbuk National University, among others. His groundbreaking work has been further supported by grants from prestigious organizations such as the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Dr. Bilal service to the academic community has extended to his role as a Session Chair at the International Conference on Electronics, Information, and Communication. Additionally, he has provided training in Universal Software-Defined Radio Peripheral (USRP) and consultancy services for Rural Support Program Networks in Pakistan.
