"Engr. Dr. Ata ur Rehman was born on 25-01-1985 in a village Mohib Banda of District Nowshera, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, Pakistan. His father has served in Pakistan Army and retired as Junior Commissioned Officer. After his retirement from Pakistan Army he Joined Pakistan Ordinance Factories (P.O.F) as security supervisor and retired at the age of 60 in august 2012. My Mother (May her soul rest in peace) was a house wife and played a vital role in raising her children as responsible units of the society.
When he (Dr. Ata ur Rehman) was a high school student he started to implement his knowledge to daily life, measured the height of a street light pole by different ways, calculated the temperature on the SUN and latter on found it very close to the actual calculated value.
After finishing high school, he applied for the field of Engineering due to his liking of applied mathematics and his interest in new technologies. The department of telecommunication engineering was the one where he could see his desires to be accomplished. For the purpose he was exposed to an “entrance test” where he stood among the top 1% of his 3000 peers. This gave him the opportunity to capitalize his creative energies and harness his technical aptitude.
His village of birth, Mohib Banda, has produced big names like in Pakistan army up to Lt. General, in Pakistan Air Force up to Air Vice Marshal, an in civil services up to Ambassador, several medical doctors and many professional engineers but he is the first one who got the opportunity to get the highest qualification in Engineering i.e: PhD in Engineering. Hence he chose the MS-Leading to PhD scholarship offered to him by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. he started his MS in Electronics Engineering in Politecnico di Torino, Italy in September 2008 and successfully completed in September 2010. In 2011 he got admission in PhD in the same university and successfully completed PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering in March 2014. During PhD he worked on DESIGN MODEL AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INDOOR TRACKING DEVICES. These devices find applications in hospitals, old homes, and can be extended to smart homes etc.
Dr. Ata ur rehman acknowledges the support and encouragement from his family, his brothers and his sister during his educational carrier, especially his father who being the bread owner of a lower middle class family always provided all the expenditures during his educational carrier up to B.Sc. engineering. And also acknowledges the support of government of Pakistan and HEC in facilitating his MS and PhD studies.
Today as a PhD he perceive that for him life has been a process of conscious evolution and he is motivated to put in his efforts in development of his country’s educational and industrial sectors. he is keen to play his role as a researcher and as a teacher.
His research interests are RFIDs, WSNs, Antenna Design, and Smart Homes."
