MoU marks way for joint collaboration between CUI Pakistan and Curtin University, Australia

Islamabad: March 8, 2023 –  COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) and Curtin University (Curtin) Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 8, 2023 through an online signing ceremony. The formularized MoU aims to jointly work for objectives to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration and encompasses areas of cooperation like exchange of staff and students; promote appropriate joint scholarly activities; conduct cultural, education and R&D projects; conduct study tours and provide study abroad opportunities to students.

Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office, CUI moderated the ceremony. Professor Syed Asad Hussain, Director CUI Lahore Campus signed the MoU on behalf of CUI duly authorized by the worthy Rector CUI and Professor Seth Kunin, Deputy Vice Chancellor Global on behalf of Curtin. Prof. Abhijit Mukherjee, Dean of South Asia witnessed the MoU on behalf of Curtin and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch on behalf of CUI.

During the ceremony Professor Hussain delivered a speech and said: “I hope that this MoU is going to be a long way in establishing a long-term relationship in terms of research and teaching between the two universities”.

Professor Kunin said, “For us [Curtin] building connections in new areas, building connections with universities like yours [COMSATS] is very important part of our global strategy. And trying to be able to engage with new communities and other communities and for us [Curtin] Pakistan is particularly important area to establish link with and for us this MoU signing is particularly important.”

At the end of the ceremony, both sides extended invitations to each other for visiting in the future.

Smiley face COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) through its Attock Campus and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra inked an MoU on Jan 30th 2023, for financial help to the dependent children of the officers, airmen and civilians of PAC, Kamra and provision of internship opportunities to the students of CUI Attock Campus along with cooperation in mutually beneficial research & development projects.

Islamabad: The COMSATS University Islamabad signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Human Resource Development Network (HRDN) on February 22, 2022 for promoting academic linkages between the two institutions. The signing ceremony was held in the office of HRDN Islamabad. The Head of International Office of COMSATS University Islamabad Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch and CEO of Human Resource Development Network Ms. Robeela Bangish signed the MoU on behalf of their organization.

The objectives of the MoU to collaborate with each other in organizing joint training programs for students and faculty members of the university, organizing joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and offer of internship opportunities for CUI students.

On this auspicious occasion, Ms. Robeela Bangish, CEO, HRDN appreciated the efforts made by the International Office COMSATS University Islamabad Campus that led the successful signing of said MoU. Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch Head International office, COMSATS University Islamabad stated that CUI looks forward for the fruitful partnership for the exchange of ideas, training sessions and opportunities for the students of CUI to do internships.

The ceremony was concluded with the exchange of appreciation and the commitment to make all efforts for better future.

Centre for Climate Research and Development (CCRD), COMSATS UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD in collaboration with Pakistan Council for Research and Water Resources (PCRWR) and other stakeholders like UNESCO, IWMI, IUCN, Technology Times, Riphah University etc., is organizing Pakistan Water Week from 6-9 December 2021 in Islamabad. In this regard, several activities like poster competition, water conservation awareness raising activities, debate competition, water games for school children etc. are being planned which will be held throughout the week. Universities and colleges are being invited for poster and debate competition. Winners will get prizes and certificates. Interested participants are suggested to contact for detail.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the National Electronics Complex of Pakistan and COMSATS University Islamabad was signed today at the Principal Seat of the later in Islamabad.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, Rector CUI and Dr. Sajid Baloch, Director General NECOP signed the document on behalf of their organizations.
Prof. Afzal lauded the efforts of the CUI Wah Campus for initiating the groundwork for the cooperation agreement. He said that Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with their off-shoots in RF and Microwave, Semiconductor Technologies, VLSI Design, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Cyber Security are among the key strengths of COMSATS University and we would like our programs to become more industry competitive. In this regard, he said that national institutions are natural partners of COMSATS University towards building indigenous capacity.
Dr. Sajid and his team of senior officials from NECOP visited several labs and facilities of the University and appreciated the research efforts put together by CUI Faculty and Students. Dr. Sajid said that, NECOP is establishing a state-of-the-art National IC Design Center, for which a strong collaboration model with academia is essential. Furthermore, NECOP has strengths in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, RF & Microwave, and Embedded System Design. NECOP is working in close collaboration with Ministry of Science and Technology on various projects of national interests in aforementioned areas, for which COMSATS University can contribute as an academic and research collaborator.
The MoU will promote collaboration between the two organizations in Research and Development in the areas of Computer Sciences, Electronics, Computer and Mechanical Engineering by granting access of NECOP Labs and facilities to CUI Researchers. The organizations agreed to hold joint research seminars, workshops and conferences in the subjects of mutual interest.
It was agreed that COMSATS University researchers and faculty will collaborate with NECOP for execution of joint technical projects. NECOP also offered to facilitate CUI students with Research Assistantships, Post-Doctoral opportunities for research, internships and joint research supervision. NECOP will also give its inputs for making the research in CUI programs more relevant and industry oriented under an Industry-Academia partnership model.
The ceremony was witnessed by several scientists, and senior officials from both organizations including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, Campus Director CUI Wah, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Madani Registrar CUI, Prof. Shahid A. Khan Head ORIC, CUI, Prof. Dr. Shahzad A. Malik Dean, CUI Faculty of Engineering & Dr. Nadia Nawaz, Associate Professor Electrical & Computer Engineering CUI Wah.
