The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) arranged a seminar titled “Semiconductor, RISC-V Opportunities, and SoC/IP Design” on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The session was led by Mr. Jaffar Safdar, CEO of AQL Tech Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, Islamabad, Pakistan. Over 150 students actively engaged in this insightful event. The seminar centered on semiconductor and RISC-V-based IC design, with Mr. Safdar highlighting the industry's promising trajectory amidst the emergence of technologies like quantum computing, 5G, autonomous vehicles, and advanced robotics. He stressed the pivotal role of open standards like RISC-V and advancements in SoC/IP design in shaping our future technological landscape. Adding a practical dimension, Mr. Abdullah Rizwan, an esteemed alumnus of ECE, CUI, Wah, currently serving as a SoC RTL design engineer at AQL Tech Solutions, shared his invaluable industry experience. His motivational insights encouraged students to actively pursue opportunities in the semiconductor sector. The event concluded with a vibrant discussion session and a stimulating Q&A, further enriching the attendees' knowledge and fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Prof. Dr. Nadia Nawaz presented a Campus Souvenir to the esteemed guest speaker with a vote of thanks.
