Biography:
Bio- graph of Dr. Shahida Mansoor
Dr. Mansoor is the first recipient of Doctor Degree in the field of Japanese Woodblock Printmaking from Tokyo National University of Art and Music (2001).
She finished her Masters in Fine Arts from Govt. College for Women Rawalpindi in 1988, winning Bata,Gold Medal M.A. Fine arts, Punjab University and Roll of Honour, Government College for Women Rawalpindi.
It was in 1994 that she received a Japanese Govt. Scholarship and left for Japan to study the traditional art of Japanese woodblock Printmaking. During her long stay of 7 years, Mansoor has exhibited her works regularly in Japan(Two Artists Show, Gallery- 17 Tokyo ,Japan,SEOUL, TOKYO, CHICAGO, the Students Exchange Show,Solo Exhibition, Gallery Yoyogi Tokyo/Japan,Exhibition of Art by Foreign Students in Tokyo/Japan and International Mini Print Exhibition in Barcelona/Spain.Dr.Shahida received some major art awards like Tawara Award and Machida City Award in Japan.
After a successful completion of her Doctorate in 2001, she chose to live in Austria until recently.
She has been exhibiting her works also in Europe and contributed in the intellectual and cultural life of Austria. She received special Invitation to participate in International Artists Show, organized for

After her return to Pakistan, she has joined COMSATS as an associate professor in the Department of Architecture and Design. She has shown her works in the Gallery of COMSATS, at PNCA, Gallery 6, and Islamabad and at KOEL Gallery Karachi. Her works are well received at home and abroad as these are the juxtapositions of Japanese aesthetics and local sensibilities.
