Faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering visited the NEWTECH, Pipes manufacturing and production plant on January 3, 2023.

NEWTECH is a Leading Pipe Manufacturers in Pakistan and one of the fastest-growing pipe industries in Pakistan. Their services in Pakistan are remarkable between the other pipe manufacturing industries . The aim of the industry is to supply all types of pipe and fitting services all over Pakistan. It also deals in high-quality pipes and fittings including HDPE Pipes, PVC, MDPE, PPRC & ELECTRIC CONDUIT Pipes, and Fittings according to ISO 9001-2015 standards. NEWTECH was established in 2000 after the demand for the best quality galvanized pipes and polyethylene pipes, HDPE pipes and allied fittings increased systematically. It is a prominent producer in the pressure pipes like HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Pipes) , PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride Pipes), MDPE (Medium Density Polyethylene Pipes), EC (Electrical conduit), PPRC (Poly Random Co-Polymer) pipes and fittings in Pakistan manufacturing industry.

The faculty members visited all the departments in the facility under the guidance of the Managing Director (MD). MD thoroughly explained all the processes that are involved in the manufacturing of pressure pipes like HDPE, PVC, MDPE, EC, PPRC pipes and fittings along with the frequent problems that are encountered by various facilities. He graciously offered some of the potential projects that can be offered as Final Year Design Project to the students of BS (ME).

During the visit, faculty members had an interactive question-answer session with the Managing Director in which discussions were about the roles of a Mechanical Engineer in this industry (Technical and non-Technical/management). This visit will open more future avenues of mutual cooperation with the industry and to enhance industry/academia linkage.
